History:
- In 1934 Congress created the Federal Housing Administration (FHA), and today the FHA is still offering a variety of financing options to help individuals become homeowners. The FHA does not actually make home loans, they will "insure" the loan that the lender will approve for you. The FHA became a part of the Department of Housing and Urban Development's (HUD) Office of Housing in 1965.
